• Learns their part before rehearsals begin
• Contributes to the production of practice CDs if needed
• Communicates and coordinates with co-section leader
• Facilitates communication within section
• Schedules and plans section practices as needed in consultation with the Music Director
• Mentors section members in learning parts
• Welcomes, encourages and supports section members
• Acts as a liaison between the Music Director and section members
committees
Membership Committee
• Attracts and orients new members
• Helps retain membership and implements appropriate procedures for exiting members
• Conducts an annual member evaluation and provides feedback to the Board
• Puts together new member welcome packet and name tags
• Makes recommendations to the Board on member guidelines and updates as necessary
• Maintains a database of members for distribution to the choir
Performance Committee [guidelines]
• Works with the Music Director and the membership to determine the performance schedule for the choir and whether the ==whole choir or one of the smaller groups is best suited for the performance
• Acts as a first contact point for performance requests and actively seeks out performances according to the choir's priorities
• Schedules performance venues
• Determines, in consultation with the membership, the performance attire for concerts
Social Committee
• Plans and coordinates social gatherings and events for the choir membership
Public Relations and Publicity Committee
• Coordinates publicity for performances in a timely and organized manner
• Contacts the media (newspapers, radio stations, etc.) and potential audience sources (retirement homes, other choirs, churches, database of fans) to publicize performances and proof reads and posts flyers and posters
Acts of Kindness Committee
• Assists members who have special needs
• Recommends organization(s) to benefit from concert proceeds (when possible)
• Peacekeeper, promotes and facilitates good communication and healthy relationships between choir members
Music Committee [guidelines]
• Plans and leads the song selection session at the end of each season
• Coordinates the recording of practice CDs and/or tapes
• Copies music for each season's repertoire and brings to weekly practices
• Works with the Music Director to select soloists for singing and speaking parts using established procedure. |
