Flyers were posted in various locations and sent to local churches, synagogues and organizations. Letters went out as well. The organizers hired Dave Marston to direct. They chose the Congregational Church in Ashland as their practice location and hoped to have 20 members that season in order to cover expenses. Songs for the first season came mostly from Eugene Peace Choir repertoire and a few songs that Dave Marston brought. The first practice was held the Thursday after Labor Day. Over 75 people showed up that night and packed the Church meeting room. More people joined in January (the last and only time the choir was opened to new members in mid-year.) By the end of the first season, the Rogue Valley Peace Choir was comprised of 100 singers. Hilary Hall was their accompanist. A Board of Directors was formed in the spring of 2004 to handle the day to day decision-making needed for a choir of that size. Non-profit status was sought and received in December of 2004. In its second season, the choir moved to the Havurah on N. Mountain St. Holding steady at about 100 members, the Rogue Valley Peace Choir became a community of like-minded and intentioned men and women, striving to better the world, themselves and their communities through sharing the joy of song.
