Dues
Choir dues are used to pay the music director and accompanist, space usage fee, purchase and/or photocopy music, make practice CD's and for other choir related expenses.
Dues are $18 a month for 9 months and may be paid to the treasurer by check or cash or mailed to the choir's post office box. The RVPC is not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Dues and donations are tax-deductible.
To lighten the work of our treasurer(s), it is preferable to pay for the full season. However, if this is not possible, dues may be paid as shown below:
Full season: $162
Semi-annually: $81
3 payments: $54
Monthly: $18
Special arrangements: Everyone is welcome in choir. Those who are not able to pay the full dues must make prior arrangements with the treasurer(s).
Volunteer Jobs
The choir relies on its members to assist in all aspects of operation. Volunteer jobs include taking minutes during announcements, keeping the roster updated, setting up chairs and participating on committees. We encourage all members to participate fully in the running of the choir, making it truly a community led organization.
During the orientation period, an individual can decide
whether he or she wishes to become an active member in the choir. A
decision must be made by the 3rd Thursday practice - at which time
September dues must be paid.
Once a decision to join the choir is made,
members agree to the following:
Attendance
Attend weekly practices on Thursday evenings from 6:45-9:00 pm. Warm-ups start promptly at 7:00 immediately after a moment of silence;
we sing until 8:40 and then have 10 minutes of choir announcements until
8:50 pm.
Members are strongly encouraged to attend all practices. Please notify your section leader if you cannot attend a practice. Members who do not attend at least 75% of practices
may want to consider not taking part in the next performance so the
choir can sound its best.
Participation in monthly sectional practices is
encouraged.
Practices and Performances
• Maintain a music notebook and bring it to weekly practice.
• Learn the words and music during the week using practice CD's and come to the practice prepared to fine tune the songs
• Attend official performances (approx. 8 per year)
Other considerations
• Please refrain from wearing fragrances
• Please refrain from eating garlic, spicy food or onions before practice
• Use good hygiene
• Please do not bring pets or children to practice
• Turn off cell phones, beepers and watches
• Sing so that your voice blends with others and doesn't stand out above the rest
• Please do not save seats
• Refrain from speaking in between songs or when other sections are learning their part. This is distracting to everyone including the Choir Director.
Each member will receive a white notebook with sheet music of the year's repertoire and a practice CD. Full dues for the month of September are due upon joining plus a one time $5 registration fee. |
