music committee guidelines


Approved by the Board on April 6, 2005

The purpose of the Music Committee is to serve the choir in the process of selecting music, making it available to the choir members and in overseeing the introductions of our songs. The Music Committee is open to all choir members and shall be comprised of a committee chairperson and any number of committee members.

Music Committee Responsibilities
1. To screen musical submissions given by choir members to assure adherence to our Mission and Vision statements and choir policies and guidelines.
2. To hold an annual meeting whereby the committee members oversee a music selection process involving the entire choir. The music selected becomes the music that will be used for the following choir season (September-May).
3. To select soloists in collaboration with the Music Director for singing and speaking parts.
4. To coordinate the recording of practice CDs.
5. To copy and distribute sheet music to the choir in a timely manner and to have extra copies available in the back of the room at every rehearsal.
